Origin of the village of Ndianda:

Ndianda was founded in 1874. Its centenary was celebrated in 1974. The village was founded by Yigo Ndiaye, a Wolof who came from the Saloum region via the Petite Côte (Toumbee).

 The village name "Ndianda" is said to derive from the deformation of the Wolof name for the "Ndiadam" tree, Boscia senegalensis from its scientific term.
