Since its creation in 2012, IADN has carried out several projects.
In 2013, the first action developed by IADN in the village of Ndianda had the main objective of improving the academic skills of primary and secondary school pupils. IADN financed this project to the tune of 3 million FCFA (3,000 euros). The project provided pupils in Ndianda's elementary school and CEM with school supplies, including math and French books, exercise books, pens, etc.
The specific objectives of this campaign were to:
Encourage teachers
Encourage students (1300 beneficiaries)
Increase end-of-year exam pass rates
Support parents and families
In 2014, a larger campaign was carried out, with many more books purchased for the Collège d'Enseignement Moyen (CEM).
In 2015, IADN provided substantial support to the pupils and students from Ndianda who are members of the Association des Elèves et Etudiants Ressortissants de Ndianda (AEERN). The aim of this action was to assist students from the village who are pursuing their studies at the universities of Dakar and Saint Louis, far from their respective families. It sometimes happens that students without scholarships, and even those with scholarships, find it extremely difficult to make ends meet at these different institutions, which are only located in urban areas.
In 2016, IADN initiated a pilot project in school reinforcement dedicated to all students in Exam class. It benefited pupils in the CM2 class at Ndianda and pupils in the 3e class at the CEM. This pilot program showed that providing assistance in Maths, English, French and Science helped to improve success rates in end-of-year exams (Certificat, Entrée en Sixième and Brevet de Fin d'Étude Moyenne). The actions carried out consisted in assisting families in the field of education, encouraging pupils and teachers and raising the quality of teaching in the village schools.
The initiative was a resounding success, well received by pupils and teachers alike. It was therefore renewed in 2017 with a larger budget and a focus on Maths, Science and Reading.
During the same year 2017, Women to World Inc. made a donation to IADN for agricultural equipment for a Groupement d'Intérêt Economique (GIE) of women in the commune of Nguéniène. The amount received enabled the GIE to acquire boots, watering cans, a motorized pump, rakes and gloves. The aim of this successful campaign was to help the women's GIE acquire market gardening equipment to boost their sales.
In 2018, the reinforcement program was renewed for the benefit of students in exam classes. Students and pupils within AEERN were again able to benefit from real support during several actions spread over the year for a total of 72 hours, days during which AEERN organized cultural and sporting activities in the village.
In 2019, the reinforcement program was also renewed, with pupils and students once again receiving financial support for the organization of these 72 hours of annual activity.
In 2020, the medical emergency caused by the COVID-19 pandemic led us to review our plans. The reinforcement program was temporarily suspended and, since 2020, IADN has been focusing on building and equipping a double multi-purpose classroom that will enable students to both learn technology and benefit from new technologies to enhance their learning.
The room was built in 2020, the roof was completed in 2021 and the search for funding to equip it is still underway. In addition to the construction of the room in 2020, IADN has also invested in the creation of audiovisual aids, the purchase of detergents and other accessories for the prevention of COVID-19 infections in the village.
In 2021, IADN intervened in the village to assist the commune in transporting patients to more specialized health facilities than the Ndianda health post. An ambulance was handed over to the Nguéniène town council, which then allocated it to the Ndianda health post. Teamwork both upstream and downstream enabled us to make the best possible use of this donation, initially made by the Centre Hospitalier de Versailles to IADN.
The latter then donated the equipment to the Nguéniène Town Hall, which in turn applied to the Senegalese administrative authorities (Joal Health District, Prefecture, Ministry of Health and Presidency of the Republic of Senegal) for customs exemption.
Thanks to these combined actions, the ambulance has arrived at its destination and can now transport the patients who need its service.
This support in the health sector has enabled us to strengthen our capacity to transfer patients from the commune to specialized facilities, and to consolidate IADN's actions in the health sector in a concrete and tangible way.
